Real Estate Company Makes ‘Brand’ Permanent

Have you ever had so much pride in your company that you were willing to get a tattoo of your company’s logo?  Tattoos are becoming ever more popular in the workforce as younger generations are getting more career-oriented jobs.  One real estate company, Rapid Realty, in New York, is taking the tattoo idea to a whole new level.

The company is offering a 15 percent pay raise for anyone who gets the company’s logo tattooed on his or her body.  It does not matter where you put the logo or how big the logo is.  About 40 people have accepted this challenge and are citing the pay increase as the motivation. No one will argue that more money in your pay check is a bad thing, but what happens to this permanent mark if you happen to lose your job or change careers?

Recently, the New York Times fired its Executive Editor Jill Abramson.  Abramson, a 3-year veteran of the company, has the New York Times “T” logo tattooed on her body.  During a commencement speech at Wake Forest University, she was asked whether she would have the tattoo removed, to which she said “not a chance”.  Abramson also believes that keeping the tattoo will tell a story of her life and show the things that were most important to her.

The people at Rapid Realty can adopt Abramson’s attitude about their tattoos as well. However, if they happen to lose their job, it is probably not a good idea for them to go to a rival real estate company with the Rapid Realty logo visible on their body!
