For decades, sourcing sleuths and savvy recruiters have looked to mass corporate layoffs as a source of job candidates. But that source is no longer what it once was.
Despite upheaval in the retail industry that has resulted in thousands of store closures, price cuts on merchandise, and consolidation, there may be high demand for seasonal jobs this year, according to a forecast from global outplacement and executive coaching firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas.
As retailers continue to cut in-store workers, high school and college students will have to look elsewhere for summer jobs. This could bode well for companies with seasonal and part-time positions to fill.
