HR Strange But True

‘Jobocalypse’ Will Make Most (Human) Workers Obsolete

Robots and androids will replace the majority of human jobs in the next few decades, according to the new book, Jobocalypse: The End of Human Jobs and How Robots Will Replace Them, by British author and futurologist Ben Way.  Where will that leave “human” resources?

Even jobs that were considered “safe” from outsourcing may be on the replacement list, including truck drivers, teachers, healthcare workers such as nurses, and even bartenders. And, says Britain’s MailOnline, the remake of the movie “RoboCob” may be totally prophetic!

Of course, the good news is that the robo-workers will be able to assume some jobs too dangerous for humans, such as fire and mine rescues or working in nuclear plants. The scary news in the book is that robots will soon be building other robots. And the bad news for HR is that robots always show up, are never sick or tardy, follow rules, and don’t require benefits, just upkeep.

Also encouraging is that Way told MailOnline that he advocates limiting the artificial intelligence of the androids to keep them “idiot savants” and stop them from being able to replace humans at “more advanced jobs.”  Unfortunately, Way titled the last chapter in his book, “Humans and the crumbs left for us”!

  1. Seems like futurists and naysayers have been saying robots will take over the workplace for the past few decades.

  2. this is totally insane!!!!!! first of all robots do not have feelings and therefore will not make the work place lively, how do you share your problems with them and how will they understand how you feel? humanity is becoming insane
