HRDA Frankly Speaking: Hyatt’s Warning on AI’s Equity Trap

Carlee Wolfe, Associate Vice President of Leader Development and Organizational Effectiveness at Hyatt Hotels Corporation, is sounding the alarm: The future of talent management isn’t just about cool technology—it’s about care and courage.

Wolfe argues that rolling out Artificial Intelligence (AI) can’t succeed if the only goal is efficiency. It must be built on a strong foundation of organizational values, particularly AI Equity.

She warns that companies must avoid “tool equity gaps,” where employees have unequal access to essential AI technology. If only certain departments or executive levels get the new tools, the result is resentment and major performance differences across the company.

As Wolfe explains, this gap is widening fast. To prevent this, HR leaders must step up and champion the equitable distribution of both technology and the necessary skills development company-wide. It’s not enough to equip only the C-suite leadership—everyone needs the tools to keep up.
